About Swaggerty’s Farm
Since 1930, the Swaggerty Family has been making what is quite possibly the best pork sausage you’ll ever taste. Committed to producing only the very finest premium pork sausage products using the best ingredients to honor a tradition started back in 1930 by our grandfather, Lonas Swaggerty. Lonas Swaggerty began producing sausage at a time marred by the great depression. Food was scarce and the money to buy it was difficult to find. From his Sevier County farm in Kodak, Tennessee, Lonas created a delicious and affordable quality sausage that became famous throughout the Great Smoky Mountains.
Our Story
1930s: Founded
In an effort to help keep their family farm and support local farmers in the community during the great depression, Lonas Swaggerty started selling sausage on the side. Using his family recipe, Lonas Swaggerty began producing a high-quality pork sausage that was affordable and available throughout the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountain region.
1940s: Selling in Knoxville
During the 1940s, like many local farmers and families, the Swaggerty family would sell their products on the streets of downtown Knoxville. In fact, the Swaggerty family even opened a brick-and-mortar location in Knoxville
1950s: Reputation of Quality
By 1952 the downtown Knoxville store had to close, but through the years, they had gained a steady collection of customers and built a reputation for 100% fresh pork sausage with a quality that was unmatched in the region. Although the store closed, the Swaggerty family continued to sell to local restaurants, stores, and customers by delivering personally.
1960s: Second-Generation Growth
By the 1970s, Kyle was able to make the sausage facet a full-time business. He took risks and invested in the latest technology, improving processes and infrastructure, and expanding the family company while maintaining the Swaggerty quality standard.

1980/90s: Third-Generation Success
Kyle’s son, Doug Swaggerty, joined Swaggerty’s Farm full-time in the 80s, bringing fresh ideas and innovations that would catapult the company to levels his grandfather never dreamt of.
2000s: Quite Possibly the Best Tasting Sausage in America
With goals to expand and ambitions to become a national brand, Swaggerty’s Farm began making leaps and bounds. Investing heavily in the future, the company was setting the stage for the next generations.
2010s: A Top 5 National Brand
Through dedication and maintaining the values created by Lonas Swaggerty, Swaggerty’s Farm achieved national growth, earning a place in the top ranks of national sausage brands. With one family recipe, our company continues to produce 100% fresh pork products with a taste and quality that is still unmatched.
Today
Today Swaggerty Sausage Company is a modern USDA inspected processing facility still located in the same small valley and operated by the third generation of the Swaggerty’s Family. We continue to focus on a proven foundation of producing a gluten free, 100% fresh pork sausage containing no artificial fillers with a unique, butcher shop flavor only Swaggerty’s Farm has. Our premium sausage products are now shipped nationwide and available in most major retailers.
